On Friday morning before dawn, Morehu Pewhairangi and Wirangi Pera of Te Aitanga a Mahaki iwi, joined our team to help bless the new distribution centre.
The blessing marks the completion of the second stage of the salad house development and acknowledges team both past and future. Collectively the blessing calls for the protection of the team coming in and out of the new facility.
Our CEO, Richard Burke says that the new distribution centre is another step in our future plans to make Gisborne the salad capital of the country.
“Our new distribution centre is installed with the latest cooling technology which will help us streamline our processes. We will be able to take production straight from the field to the cooler through to our salad house for processing, packing and distribution.
“This new facility will reset the standard of what world-class distribution and handling of fresh produce means in New Zealand. This is a principle that our founder, Murray McPhail, established in the business more than 40 years ago and we are proud to continue to lift the benchmark today.”
This week, LeaderBrand will start moving equipment into the distribution centre with the intention of being up and operational by the end of the month.
