Post Harvest Supervisor

As the Post Harvest Supervisor your primary role is to work hands on with the Post Harvest team members to ensure that inwards, outward goods, packing and raw material is handled efficiently and accurately, without compromise to quality, safety and operating costs. You will be responsible for leading the team to ensure key performance indicators are met, and improvements and efficiencies are achieved.

About The Role

You will be primarily working in a team environment but may also work independently. Your role is to ensure that inwards, outward goods and further processing and tasks are managed efficiently and safely with a focus on meeting the needs of our product freshness and customer requirements. Always ensure the team maintains the cleanliness standards of the post-harvest operation and providing exceptional customer service.

This fast-paced, physical role is responsible for varied duties and includes receipt, palletizing and counting of product, inwards goods receipt and loading and dispatching with an emphasis on quality, temperature control, safety, and stock accuracy. You must be able to work in a cool store environment. You are expected to ensure tasks are delegated, ensuring the workload is balanced while developing the team to be multiskilled.

You will lead and supervise a team of Post Harvest Operators, Transport Operator and Packing staff. The team will need to operate with staggered start times, therefore developing a dependable and punctual team is a key aspect of the role. The role is responsible for ensuring 6 days a week cover; weekend work should be shared amongst the team.

The role varies throughout the day and may cover all aspects of inwards, outwards goods and clipping and packing. When you are not busy with your core role and responsibilities, you are helping other team members to achieve theirs.

This fast-paced, role is responsible for a variety of duties including.

  • Inwards goods receipt with an emphasis on quality, temperature control, safety, and stock accuracy.
  • Data entry work utilising the company’s in-house system ‘Linkfresh’ as well as other systems.
  • The provision of inwards service of raw materials to the further processing team in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ensuring stocktakes of raw materials and packaging are timely and accurate.
  • Assisting other post-harvest staff with the receival, wrapping, labelling and temp checking of products when required.
  • Ensuring Food Safety, GMP and SOP’s are adhered to within Post Harvest and administering training where required in order to maintain a high standard.
  • Ensuring health and safety is an everyday discussion point with the team.
  • Ensuring the loading and dispatching of correct and in spec product for delivery into the DC
  • Assist the further processing team as required.
  • Ensure the team performance is in line with cost expectations
  • Conduct performance reviews and evaluations, but also ongoing training, coaching, and communication with your team.

Experience

Desired:

  • Food manufacturing or warehouse experience
  • Forklift experience in a fast paced and cold environment
  • Worked in a strong health and safety environment
  • Building and developing high performing team
  • Understanding of food safety and quality requirements associated with product receipt, storage and distribution
  • Experience with administration and computer systems is desired
