LeaderBrand Produce Limited is a key employer in the Gisborne region and is known as one of New Zealand’s most recognised and diverse horticultural and fresh food businesses. We are a family business with a team culture, and we are looking for a team player for our forklift operator role.
Our season is about to start and our distribution centre has positions available for Forklift Operators on a fixed term contract available.

About The Role
Duties could include loading and unloading trucks, cool store work, order picking, stock movements, yard work, pack house work and general duties around site. This position requires you to be physically fit as there is frequent heavy lifting of up to 20 kg. Some flexibility around working hours is required as we respond to changing business needs, i.e. additional hours as required, extra shifts may also be available
As a forklift driver you will be working in a team environment, primarily ensuring that both inwards and outwards goods tasks are handled efficiently, with a focus on meeting the needs of our customers at all times. You will be involved in monitoring, counting, picking and staging ready for dispatch around New Zealand.
The DC team provide the inwards service of raw materials and outward transit and storage of finished goods from our Salad production house. You must be able to work in a Cool store environment and temperature. You must have experience with operating a forklift.
You will join a team of approximately 25 distribution staff working on a staggered start roster covering seven days a week. The role is fixed term for the summer season (at this stage) offering variety throughout the day and covering all aspects of inwards and outwards goods. When you are not busy with your core role and responsibilities, you will be supporting other team members to achieve theirs.
About You
Ideally you will have a down to earth, positive, outgoing approach with an ability to relate well with a wide range of people. Our ideal person would be a dedicated reliable person who will fit right in with our well-established Distribution Centre team and offer:
- OSH Forklift certificate with F endorsement (experience desired)
- Store person experience (desired, but not necessary)
- Tolerant of a ‘cool’ environment
- Flexibility around working shifts
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Health and safety awareness, able to comply with safety standards and codes
- Excellent communication with great co-ordination skills
- Be a team player, self-starter, motivated, reliable and willing to learn.
