Crop Operations Lead Hand

We are currently seeking a motivated, hands-on individual to be boots on the ground at our Pukekohe Farm. You will focus on all aspects of crop production and operations working closely with the Operations Manager. This is a key lead hand role which has a core focus on growing fresh vegetable crops from garden gate to dinner plate.

This role is best suited to someone who brings bags of farming experience and is motivated by large scale production. This opportunity provides you with a real platform to develop in a field where you are often the market leader.

With this role you will support various departments of cropping including planning, operations, planting, harvesting and distribution.

About You

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Operations Manager to align farming strategies and planning.
  • Assist with day-to-day operations in growing, harvest and post-harvest.
  • Support accurate crop volume and estimates.
  • Assist with scheduling harvest operations to meet daily and weekly targets.
  • Ensure efficient productivity in harvest and streamline operations in and out of post-harvest.
  • Cultivation and harvest of high-quality crops at the required spec.
  • Uphold our commitment to progressive and sustainable farming practices.
  • Assist with equipment movements associated with fresh crop harvest and operations.
  • Assist with leading and motivating a dedicated team of farm staff, encouraging a positive and collaborative work environment.

Qualifications

  • NZ Class 1 drivers Licence
  • Minimum of 10 years proven experience in farm operations, preferably in a similar setting
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Sound knowledge of vegetable crop production, ideally in Broccoli and Lettuce
  • Great organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to motivate and lead to achieve targets.
  • Effective communication skills and a collaborative approach to work
