We are pleased to announce that Gordon McPhail, our General Manager of Farming has joined the Vegetables NZ as a Director following this year’s AGM at the end of August 2025.
Gordon is honoured to have been appointed and says that as a passionate grower he wants to see the industry grow and prosper.
“We play a crucial role in food security and the health of the country. We also need to focus on continuing to increase consumption. As growers, we need the tools to grow and ensure the correct regulatory settings are in place. I think that Vegetables NZ plays an important role in developing, advocating, and representing our grower members to all stakeholders as a unified voice. I’m really excited to get stuck in and help.”
John Murphy, NZ Chair of Vegetables NZ says he’s delighted that Gordon has made himself available, and he looks forward to his input.
‘Gordon has demonstrated that he will speak-up and bring a commercially sound, constructive approach that benefits vegetable growers”
The Vegetables NZ Board is determined to stay in touch with the day-to-day reality its growers face and respond to constructive criticism productively.
‘We want our industry to be prosperous so our growers can continue to grow fresh, healthy vegetables for New Zealanders at reasonable prices,’ says John.
‘Our Board is focused on enabling our growers to do what they do best – growing fresh healthy vegetables for New Zealanders.’
Nick Pollock, our Production Manager, has stepping off the Board in January 2025.
‘I would like to thank Nick for his contributions. Nick represented Vegetables NZ on the Vegetable Research and Innovation Board and other committees. He has had grower prosperity at heart and worked hard to make a difference,’ said John.
