About The Role

As our Gisborne Lettuce Grower, you will be responsible for overseeing the cultivation, harvesting, and production of premium-quality Iceberg and Romaine lettuce programs while ensuring sustainable and efficient farming practices. You will play a pivotal role in planning operations, managing budgets, and continuously challenging and improving our processes to achieve operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, oversee, and execute all lettuce-growing operations from planting to harvest, ensuring optimum yields and quality.
  • Develop and implement innovative agronomic strategies to enhance crop performance and sustainability.
  • Manage budgets effectively, ensuring financial targets are met while maintaining high standards of production.
  • Analyse and challenge existing techniques and processes, driving process improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Lead the implementation of process changes to optimize farming practices and achieve measurable outcomes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with production goals, quality standards, and market demands.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports to ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.

About You

To thrive in this role, you should possess:

A track record of successfully implementing process changes and challenging traditional techniques to drive improvement.

A strong background in agronomy, with proven experience in crop production.

Demonstrated expertise in budget planning and management within an agricultural setting.

  • Evidence of a relevant tertiary qualification in agronomy, agriculture, or a related field.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills to influence change and drive team success.
  • Utilize strong computer and technology skills to analyse data, manage production systems, and drive digital innovation in farming practices.
