As an Inwards Goods Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in a collaborative team, ensuring that all inwards tasks are handled efficiently smoothly to maintain the highest standards of freshness and cleanliness for our products.

About The Role

This fast-paced, physical role is responsible for varied duties and includes;  palletising and counting of product, inwards goods receipt and dispatch with an emphasis on quality, temperature control, safety, and stock accuracy.   You must be able to work in a coolstore environment and temperature. 

You will join a team of approximately 25 distribution staff working on a staggered start roster covering seven days a week.  The role is varied throughout the day and may cover all aspects of inwards and outwards goods, Quality assurance through visual and temperature checks is critical before the product reaches our customers.  When you are not busy with your core role and responsibilities, you are helping other team members to achieve theirs. 

Core functions will invole: 

  • Crate and bin washing/sterilisation 
  • Dumping of rejected and/or expired stock
  • Cleaning of yard and coolstore
  • Carding and wrapping of crates and pallets
  • Squash bin building.

Experience Desired:

  • Previous experience in food manufacturing or warehouse settings
  • Forklift experience in a fast-paced, cold environment
  • Strong background in health and safety practices
  • Familiarity with food safety and quality standards in a manufacturing plant
  • Some experience with basic admin and computer systems is a plus.

Essential Skills:

  • Effective communication, both written and verbal
  • Reliable, accurate, and detail-oriented
  • Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.

Personal Attributes:

  • Comfortable working in a cold environment
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Adaptable and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Capable of working independently or as part of a team.
