Vineyard Operators

Job Outline

LeaderBrand Produce Ltd is one of New Zealand’s largest and most diverse horticultural businesses.  Based in Gisborne, the operation covers 330ha of Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay vines.

Due to ongoing expansion, we are seeking to attract a Vineyard machinery operator to join our dedicated team in LeaderBrand’s viticulture department.

About The Roles

We have one full-time permanent and one fixed term (October – February) summer roles in which you will report to the Vineyard Operations Manager. Work will include:

  • Fungicide spraying
  • mowing, trimming
  • mechanical leaf plucking
  • harvest duties
  • general vineyard duties.

Applicants will need to have proven machinery handling skills, strong practical ability and be prepared to assist with any role within the vineyard when required. Flexibility and willingness to work longer hours during peak times is a must.

About You


  • Experience from a viticulture or agriculture background
  • Able to operate and maintain tractors and implements
  • To have a reasonable level of fitness appropriate for the physical demand of the role
  • Great attention to detail and pride in their work
  • Valid New Zealand drivers’ licence
  • To have a great attitude, great communications, great team player and able to work unsupervised
  • To be Health and Safety conscious
  • A Growsafe Certificate would be advantageous, but not necessary as full training will be given
  • Enjoy the outdoors and own a ‘can-do’ attitude.

Successful applicants must pass drug testing as part of the pre-employment process, be a New Zealand resident or hold a valid work visa and provide proof of Covid vaccinations.

Pay rates are competitive and will depend on the experience of the successful applicant.
