Founded in 1975 by Murray McPhail, LeaderBrand is recognised as one of New Zealand’s largest and most diversified horticultural and fresh food businesses.
With farms located in Gisborne and Canterbury, LeaderBrand currently grows 3,000ha of fresh produce each year for process, domestic and international customers.

LeaderBrand South Island

LeaderBrand has recently established a farm in Ashburton on the Canterbury Plains. The region is known for having an excellent reputation for agricultural production, a temperate climate and good water supply creating ideal conditions for the production of a broad range of crops. Summer temperatures reach as high as 35 °C with an average summer temperature of 25°C. Night temperatures fall to between 12-15 °C.
Winter extremes with overnight lows down to -5 °C and up to 14 °C in the daytime. Summer grown Crops are undertaken from mid December to Mid February and harvested throughout March and April. Crops Grown by LeaderBrand include Buttercup Squash and Broccoli.
